I am Dan Geaves, and this is my blog.
For the last eight years or so I have been working exclusively with charities, offering my knowledge and skills as a direct marketer to help them further their causes.
Prior to that I was a commercial direct marketer during which time I helped launch a credit card for Virgin, created the first e-marketing campaign for Vodafone, and worked with an ex-Russian tank designer to create a vision of the technology of the future for Ericsson. (Most of which has come true.)
Before that I worked as a psychologist, helping to identify how the British Government could encourage people to save more, and why people don’t exercise.
Now, I work in Australia, for Pareto Fundraising – one of the world’s leading fundraising agencies. On September 25th 2008 we won the Anthill Cool Company Award for Creativity.
I have spoken for the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) and at the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand (FINZ) International Conference, as well as for Pareto Fundraising’s own Masterclass series in Australia and Hong Kong.
I am fortunate enough to have picked up awards from D&AD and the DMA in the UK, ADMA (2006, 2007, 2008), FIA (2008), and FINZ (2008). I judged the Asia-Pacific entires to the 2008 ECHO Awards, and the 2008 ADMA Effectiveness Awards.
Out of a desire for integrity, I want to try and avoid offering opinions in my blog about my own work.
And I also hope my opinions speak for themselves.
But since you may still find yourself wondering “why should I be interested in this dude’s thoughts?” I have added this pdf about my own fundraising ventures.

And of course, I am open for people getting in touch if anyone wants to know more about me, Pareto Fundraising, or even ask for some opinionaid.
